UPPING THE TEMPO

Six India tours have been added to Tempo Holidays’ 2012 India and Sri Lanka brochure, including the 11-day Golden Triangle with Shimla, which combines Delhi, Agra and Jaipur with the Himalayan city of Shimla. Another new itinerary is The Heritage of India, a 16-day trip featuring stays in heritage hotels housed in former forts, palaces and mansions. Tempo has also added the Maharajas’ Express luxury train journeys, with three itineraries to choose from — Princely India, Royal India and Classical India.

“The brochure also offers a wider range of touring in both North and South India with a total of 15 itineraries to choose from,” product manager John Saporito said. “There is a good mix of affordable itineraries, like the Golden Triangle, to luxury options such as Maharajas’ Express, and more options to explore India in depth with tours like The Heritage of India.

Also new for India is the nine-day Royal North India and 11-day Royal Retreats of South India. Travellers who book either package will receive a free photo book which can be personalised with their own digital images.

The wholesaler has also added the Maldives to the brochure, with eight resorts featured in this destination, and has added a third itinerary for Sri Lanka — the 10-day Hidden Treasures of Sri Lanka.

LUXURY AWAY FOR C&K

Cox & Kings has released its 2012 India brochure, consisting of seven luxury private tours, 10 small group journeys and dedicated pages on its luxury train experience, the Maharajas’ Express.

“New for 2012 is the 27-day Passage to India luxury private journey, our most comprehensive itinerary which takes in the very best of India’s north and south,” Cox & Kings business head, Antony Giblin, said. “This tour explores colonial Delhi, the Taj Mahal and the lesser-visited city of Ahmedabad in the north, plus the temples of Tamil Nadu, the spice city of Kochi and the Mughal-era highlights of Hyderabad in the south.”

Cox & Kings’ most popular India package, the eight-day Jewels of India luxury private journey, returns in 2012. It explores the fabled sites of the Golden Triangle including the Red Fort in Delhi, the Taj Mahal in Agra and the Amber Fort in Jaipur. Travellers can also explore the Golden Triangle on the eight-day India Experience small group journey. The brochure also features Three Maharajas’ Express Signature Journeys — the 10-day Princely India, the 10-day Royal India and the nine-day Classical India.

NOTHING LIKE HANDMADE

For the more independent traveller, Travel Indochina has released its Handmade Holidays and Footloose India, Sri Lanka and the Maldives brochure.

Managing director Paul Hole said “There’s absolutely no way to capture all of India in one tour or one brochure — it’s a kaleidoscope of colour, activity and history across a vast nation. What we’ve tried to do is to pull together an indicative selection of the best the country has to offer, sharing some of our favourite locations and experiences, and presenting a series of stepping stones that lead to a traveller’s ideal encounter with India.

The brochure features boutique hotels with heritage qualities located primarily in iconic historical precincts and a section on wildlife reserve touring, with safari options for all budgets.

One of the most popular itineraries, the 11-day Golden Triangle and Beyond, combines the famed region with some of Rajasthan’s hidden gems — the luxury rural camp of Chhatra Sagar, the stylish historic residence of Shahpura Bagh and the 600 year old Kumbhalgarh Fort. For the second year running the wholesaler has also included content for Sri Lanka and selected Maldives resorts.

A WILD ADVENTURE

Adventure World recently finalised its product collection for 2012/2013 with the brochure soon to come. The wholesaler’s India product manager, Ana Salazar, said its Golden Triangle program was still its most popular offering as it took in the classic sights of Old and New Delhi, the Taj Mahal and Jaipur.

“I’m excited to announce some new product offerings in our soon-to-be-released brochure including a dedicated wildlife tour which focuses on the national parks; home to hundreds of species of birds, reptiles, mammals, and of course, the endangered Bengal tiger,” Salazar said. “For those looking for a unique cultural experience, our new Northern Himalayan tour is a journey over mountain passes, forested valleys, and splendid gompas [sacred places of learning] and Buddhist temples that house a wealth of culture and art.”
