India: Sofitel in India

India is the newest country on the map for Sofitel Luxury Hotels, with the group opening a property in Mumbai last month. The Sofitel Mumbai BKC is located in the city’s bustling Bandra Kurla Complex business district.

Sofitel’s worldwide chief executive Robert Gaymer-Jones said the new Sofitel Mumbai BKC was a strong example of the brand’s expansion strategy, which involves being present in strategic towns and cities in keeping with its new positioning policy. “The Sofitel Mumbai BKC is a precious asset for the brand both in India and internationally,” he said.

Two future Sofitel projects are also in the pipeline, including one wearing the brand’s newest design oriented label, Sofitel So.

The contemporary architectural style of the property blends both Indian and French influences. The hotel features six bars and restaurants including the Pondichery Cafe, specialising in combinations of Indian and French flavours. Guests can have a Parisienne cafe experience with servings of chocolate, cooked meats and cheeses at the hotel’s L’Artisan – Épicerie, Pâtisserie, Chocolaterie, while the ultra-modern Bar Diamantaire pays tribute to India’s diamond traders and features a wine tower.

The property also has nine meeting rooms, a day spa, a fitness centre and pool.
